EXOTIC ALIEN

I wanna be loved by you / just you / nobody else but you
I wanna be loved by you / aloooooone / booboobedo

I couldn't aspire / to anything higher / than to fill this desire / to make you my own
Booboobedooshooboobedoo / oh!

A non-native species, the peacock, pavo cristatus, was brought to Southern Africa as a colonial garden accessory. They now roam around homes in the affluent suburbs of Cape Town and are regarded as a beautiful, if destructive, invader. In EXOTIC ALIEN, woman and bird are conflated in a co-dependency of self-love and self-loathing. An obsession with ownership, physical perfection and bulimic consumption are mirrored between the inanimate and live animal.
