Borderlands is a collaborative public arts project focused on the Cape Deep South.
It is developed by Chase Rhys, Kati Francis, Sibabale Silo & Leila Anderson. Our aims are: - activating in-between zones with artistic expression and creating spaces for encounter - giving a platform for local artists to present their work - creating new audiences by giving free public access to innovative, progressive art - provoking reflection - building connections between separated communities - mentoring and connecting local artists with a wider artistic community - putting the periphery in focus by de-centralising cultural events from the city centre - highlighting the intersectional relationship between issues of urban planning, race and class in the area - exploring the environment and its custodianship |
The try-out was made possible through the generous support of our friends, family and communities.
The project is ongoing.
