Strange City
New to the city of Amsterdam, I was struck by it's overwhelming branding as a tourist's paradise. I wasn't sold on it.
Starting out at the Centraal Station, I held up a sign: I AM NEW. I DON'T GET AMSTERDAM. I HAVE 2 HOURS TO FALL IN LOVE WITH THE CITY. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Suggestions came and I followed them, meandering from one attraction to the next. Eventually, in the heart of the Red Light District, I was invited into the home of a woman and her family. Putting myself in the hands of the city, I let myself be guided into an intimate encounter with strangers.
